Monongahela Valley Hospital will hold its semi-annual Multiphasic Blood Analysis Screening on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center on the hospital campus. Registration is required.
On each blood sample, 37 individual tests will be performed that can reveal anemia, lung disease, diabetes, leukemia, high cholesterol, blood disorders and much more.
At no additional cost, the screening will also include a full lipid profile. The profile will provide a total cholesterol number; triglycerides, which indicate the amount of free-floating fat in the blood; good and bad cholesterol levels (HDL and LDL); plus heart disease risk factors.
Other tests, including Hemoglobin A1C (blood test for diabetes), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), prostatic specific antigen (PSA), and Vitamin D will each be available for an additional cost.
MVH’s Multiphasic Blood Analysis is open to the public at a cost of only $25 per person. Testing is done by pre-registration and appointment only. Registrations are being accepted until Wednesday, Sept. 23 — call Monday - Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at 724-258-1282.
Participants will be asked to provide the full name and complete address of the physician to whom their test results will be sent.
A 12-hour fasting period is required prior to testing. Persons on medication should consult their physicians.
Certified medical professionals from the MVH laboratory will administer the testing. The procedure takes between 15 and 20 minutes.
Flu shots will also be available for $25 cash only.
