Monongahela Valley Hospital has been recognized for achieving excellence in patient safety and clinical performance with the 2014 VHA Mid-Atlantic Achieving Patient Care Excellence Award (APEX).
MVH received the Silver Level award for prevention of hospitalization-related complications, specifically hospital readmissions and venous thromboembolism events, which are cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel-related) illnesses, including blood clots. Venous thromboembolism is the third most common cardiovascular illness after acute coronary syndrome and stroke.
