Steps to starting a new business offered at workshop.
The First Step: Mechanics of Starting a Small Business
This is a comprehensive workshop that is designed for anyone with a business idea but doesn’t know where to start. This is a highly interactive session and will acquaint you with the steps necessary to start your new enterprise. The First Step is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR), Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE), and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and is scheduled for two different locations and times:
- October 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Library of Homestead, 510 E. 10th Ave., Munhall
- October 8 from 2-4 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Career Link Mon Valley, 570 Galiffa Dr., Donora

The Second Step: Developing a Business Plan
A business plan can be invaluable in terms of garnering financial support for your business. This workshop will help you learn how to draft operational and production plans, conduct market research, and create financial spreadsheets to attract funding for your business. The Second Step is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR), Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE), and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and is scheduled for two different locations and times:
- October 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Library of Homestead, 510 E. 10th Ave., Munhall
- October 22 from 2-4 p.m. at the PA CareerLink Mon Valley, 570 Galiffa Dr., Donora
