Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 914 Intrepid West Mifflin prepare for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the West Mifflin Area Senior High School football field Sept. 11.

VFW Commemorates 9-11

Pictured (l-r) are Vietnam veteran Jim Brickner; World War II veteran Earl Birdy; Desert Storm veteran Mike Mauer; Vietnam veteran Bill Lasobik; post Quartermaster Gary Ruston; and post Commander Jake Bradich. The veterans laid a wreath in remembrance of the 3,000 Americans who were killed 14 years ago during the al Qaeda terrorist attacks.

Also participating as part of the ceremony were an honor guard from the West Mifflin Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, as well as AFJROTC instructors Senior Master Sergeant Otis DiCerbo and Major Scott Harbula. Members of the West Mifflin Titan Marching Band played the Star Spangled Banner and taps to honor the fallen of Sept. 11.
