Film and theater students at West Mifflin's Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) are preparing to work side-by-side with Hollywood.

CCAC film students Tiffany Mach and Megan Lewis; the creators of the upcoming TV Series, Midnight Angels.

The film program has expanded in the last two years and now offers new advantages for students, including access to video recording and editing equipment, giving them hands-on education and experience.

The talent at CCAC includes actors, producers, directors, gaffers and models. Their first professional film work started in 2015 with the Jake & Snake promotional course videos made by Megan Lewis.

Lewis and fellow film student, Tiffany Mach, are working on a TV series, Midnight Angels, a post- apocalyptic drama that follows a group of survivors in a vampire dominant world. Mach's experience includes modeling for Macy's, VoiceOver work in the LEGO movie, and work as an extra in films such as Batman, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Hit Man. Together they hope to raise funds for a better camera and lighting equipment.

CCAC students have also formed the IFT (Improv, Film, and Theater) Society. IFT has since created college documentaries that include focus on subjects such as scholarships at CCAC and verbal abuse in relationships. Recently IFT traveled to Flint, Michigan with IUP students to film a documentary on the tainted water. Their first short film was titled “Sandbox” and details the life of a soldier suffering from PTSD. The film can be viewed on YouTube. IFT hopes to help more students with their ideas for film and TV. They welcome all ideas for consideration to nurture them to fruition.
