The Peters Township Public Library welcomes all to a performance of Civil War Era Christmas music by the folk group “Acoustic Shadows of the Blue and Gray” on Sunday, December 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Listen to songs as they would have been authentically played during the Civil War. The group will perform favorite songs including “Lorena,” popular on both Union and Confederate sides; “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “The Bonnie Blue Flag,” “Rally Round the Flag,” “Goober Peas,” and “It is Well with My Soul”. Other Civil War favorites featured will include “Dixie,” “The Battle of Shiloh Hill,” and “Shenandoah”.
The group, led by Band Leader Harry Fisher, perform in Civil War era uniforms and provide guests an evening of listening to a repertoire of songs not often heard and a chance for a singalong with the band. Performers include Harry Fisher who plays banjo, Michael Fisher on the mandolin and guitar, Bill Kistler on guitar, and Mark Kinan, who doubles on the banjo and as a percussionist. For some two decades, the band has been performing for area audiences including the California University of Pennsylvania Civil War Roundtable. Walt Klorczyk, facilitator of the Civil War Round Table, brings this popular Civil War holiday program to the Peters Township Community.
