Currently running as South Park Theatre’s Main Stage Production is ‘Trumbo: Red, White, and Blacklisted.’

South Park Theater's Production of "Trumbo - Red, White and Blacklisted."

The play introduces audience members to Dalton Trumbo, an American screenwriter and novelist who began his career in the 1930s and quickly became one of the best-known and highest-paid screenwriters by the early 1940s. He was blacklisted in 1947 as one of the Hollywood Ten for his alignment with the Communist party and his refusal to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee.

Throughout the play, audience members get a sense of how Trumbo himself handled his blacklisting and how his decisions impacted his career, his family, and his finances. The play creatively uses Trumbo himself reading some of his letters to move the story along and explains the context behind the letters through his son, Christopher, who grew up during the ‘40s and ‘50s.

Performances take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15. ‘Trumbo’ runs through August 5. Call the box office to make your reservations today at 412-831-8552.
