Rock The Arts: Live At Spoonwood to Feature Steel Blossoms
Rock the Arts: Live at Spoonwood, TJ Arts’ first-ever benefit rock concert, will take place on Sunday, August 7 at Spoonwood Brewing Co. and features hometown country duo Steel Blossoms.
The evening will be led by emcee Kelly Langenohl, the weekday afternoon host on 100.7 STAR. Only 150 tickets are available for this intimate, one-night-only concert, and all proceeds benefit arts enrichment in West Jefferson Hills.
“We are so pleased to host this event for several reasons: Hayley Prosser and Kelly Langenohl are TJ alums, and we love promoting our West Jefferson Hills graduates,” says TJ Arts’ Local Fundraising Chair Dawn Walters. “Spoonwood is a very hip venue and we think all our patrons, young and old, will have a great time. Best of all, your attendance supports the arts, a cause worth celebrating!”
Steel Blossoms, now based in Nashville, hail from Pittsburgh and includes 2010 Thomas Jefferson High School alumna Hayley Prosser and 2007 Frazier High School alumna Sara Zebley, who love telling stories through their lyrics and featured harmonies. The two first met in 2008 at a local music festival in Western Pennsylvania, and they were soon performing together in Sara’s band Girlz in Black Hats. After building up their live repertoire, the pair decided to move to Nashville in August 2014 and rebranded as Steel Blossoms. TJ Arts is excited to welcome them back to their hometown for this exclusive benefit concert.
Hayley Prosser says, “It’s been a really wonderful journey so far. We play a lot in Nashville and we try to come up to Pennsylvania as often as we can to keep the momentum going. We call ourselves folk-country; a lot more traditional, story-telling music.”
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music begins at 6:30 p.m. Spoonwood Brewing Co. is located at 5981 Baptist Road, Bethel Park, PA.
Tickets are available for purchase at www.tj-arts.org or 412-655-0747. Adult tickets are $30; children 12 and under are $15. Ticket includes entertainment, one drink and light appetizers. All sales final; no refunds except in case of cancellation.
TJ Arts is dedicated to supporting and encouraging the full expression of the performing and fine arts in the West Jefferson Hills School District and the communities it serves. Our guiding principle is that exposure to the arts during adolescence plays a significant role in forming the fabric of what young people become, enriching their lives and instilling a lifelong appreciation for artistic performance and creative expression.
