The 29th annual Senior Games, sponsored by the Southwestern PA Area Agency on Aging will be held at the Waynesburg Central High School in Greene County on June 17.

Senior lunches are served at the Venetia Community Center on the 2nd Thursday and the 4th Thursday of the month at noon.

Listed below are the upcoming bus trips planned by West Newton Senior Center.

March 18 – Yellow School Bus to The Meadows for Gambling

The cost is $18, with $20 free play from the Casino. Call 724-872-4976 to make your reservation or mail your check to 103 E. Main St., West Newton, PA 15089 with your name and contact phone number.

It's looking like a pretty routine month for our February "Forever Young Sweetheart" members. The Community Center doors will open at 10 a.m. for all meetings. 'Sit and be fit' exercises will precede all meetings, which will start at 10:15. Blood pressures will be taken by Lexi at each meeting, and a catered lunch will be served at noon. There will be Early Bird Bingo every meeting, and a couple of scheduled speakers.

Three Steps for Seniors to Stay Safe

With dangerous winter weather in the forecast, Home Instead Senior Care says now is the time for seniors and their loved ones to brush up on cold weather safety tips.

"Winter can be a difficult time, as the harsh conditions especially impact seniors," said Jeff Huber, president of Home Instead, Inc. "We want to make sure seniors and their loved ones are aware of simple ways they can stay safe and warm throughout the season."
