The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) Department of Workforce & Job Readiness is pleased to announce that CCAC student Minnie Jones has been awarded the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Employers (PennACE) ‘JoAnne Day Student of the Year’ Award (Associate Degree category). Through the award, PennACE recognizes the achievements and contributions made by undergraduate students enrolled at member institutions who have completed an internship or co-op. One recipient in each of the four award categories—Business, STEM, Liberal Arts and Associate Degree—is recognized and awarded with a plaque and $500 check.

The Council on Substance Abuse and Youth (CSAY) is committed to the prevention and reduction of youth and adult substance abuse in Westmoreland County. Sarah Opalinski, community mobilizer/ prevention specialist for Westmoreland Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc., and who works for WEDAC on the coalition CSAY, said, "We are dedicated to working together to provide education, encourage recovery, and create social change, and to empower individuals to take a stand to end substance abuse in our neighborhoods."

Monongahela High School Class of 1971, the last Wildcat Class to graduate from Monongahela High School will hold it's 50th class reunion on August 20, 2021 at the DoubleTree - Meadow Lands. The reunion committee has also scheduled August 21, 2021 as the Wildcat picnic at Mingo Park. Read more...
