The West Jefferson Hills Historical Society invites the community to attend an entertaining program on August 24 at 7:00 P.M. in the Community Rooms of the Jefferson Hills Municipal Building.
In his program "The Great Castle Shannon Bank Robbery" Edd Hale will tell the tale of the sleepy mining hamlet of Castle Shannon, which on May 24, 1917 erupted in violence as four desperadoes robbed the town’s only bank and found themselves caught in a Wild West-style shootout with the townspeople. Hear how this holdup was planned, executed, and partly foiled as we look at one of Pittsburgh’s most notorious crimes.
The West Jefferson Hills Historical Society programs are FREE to the public. If you would like more information, or have any questions, please send an e-mail to: wjhhs15025@gmail.com.
