Dedicated High School Basketball Coach Now Third All-Time in WPIAL History. 

Salvino

Belle Vernon Area High School Boys Basketball coach, Joe Salvino reached a milestone in victories as a high school basketball coach on March 8, 2022 with his 700th coaching victory.  With a .700 winning percentage and 639 of those wins at Monessen, Salvino finished his 38th year as a head mentor at both Monessen (1984-2018) and the last four years at Belle Vernon Area High School. He is now the third winningest WPIAL basketball coach moving ahead of Ed McCloskey with 698 wins. The number one and two coaches all-time in WPIAL history are Don Graham with 801 wins and Ken Misiak with 730 wins.

Salvino has six WPIAL titles and ties for fifth all-time in league history and he also has two PIAA state titles. Salvino is a 2017 Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
