Special Easter Event

Thursday, March 10th at 11 a.m., we are having an artistic drama of the story of Easter in the eyes of a Roman Soldier by Terry Crawford. Come see the show at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon. Call 724-872-4976 to make your reservation. Lunch reservation deadline: March 2nd.

 Healthy Step In Motion Exercise Classes

 Every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 p.m. we will have exercises to help reduce the risk of falling, build strength, and increase flexibility to improve movement and balance. These exercises are great for arthritis!

 Zumba Classes

Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. Call the center for cost and to make your reservations at 724-872-4976.

Casino Trips for 2016

Cost - $25. The cost includes bus, driver tip, casino bonus. We depart from the West Newton Vol. Fireman's parking lot, Riverside Drive, West Newton, at 10 a.m. and Rt. 70/Rt. 201 Belle Vernon Park ‘n’ Ride at 10:15 a.m.

We have a variety of bus trips scheduled this year. They vary in price and points of interest. See the list below for dates, prices and details. All trips depart from the West Newton Volunteer Fireman’s parking lot, Riverside Drive, West Newton with a second stop at Rt. 70/Rt. 201 Belle Vernon Park ‘n’ Ride. Wednesday, April 13th – Sight and Sound Theater, Lancaster, PA presents Samson.

Thursday, May 19th – Travel to Columbiana, Ohio. Sharon Grove has planned a Tootie Fruitie tour where you receive a gift at each stop.

Sunday, June 5th – Pirate Game, Pittsburgh, PA. These are great all-you-can-eat seats.

Friday, June 10th – Rogers Flea Market in Rogers, Ohio.

Saturday, September 17th – Enjoy a trip to Middletown Hummelstown PA Railroad from the 1891 Station for a scenic ride through the Swatara Creek Valley.

Sunday, October 9th – Shaker Woods, Christmas in the Woods, Columbiana, OH. Old-fashioned Christmas in the woods. Craft persons will be demonstrating their unique skills and gifts for all.

Saturday, October 22nd – Belmont County, OH. Tour the National Imperial Glass Museum of Bellaire, the Belmont County Sherriff’s Residence Museum, the Belmont County Victorian Mansion of Barnesville and the Dickinson Cattle Longhorn tour.

 

 Bingo

 The first and third Mondays every month at the West Newton Senior Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. Early Birds start at 6:15 p.m. 1st and 2nd set of 6 cards for 20 games $5. Each additional set of cards $2. Early birds and specials are sold separately. Prizes: Regular games and specials are half the take. $300 Jackpot includes $25 Regular Bingo, $75 Outside Edge and $200 Full Card.

New for 2016!

The Last Thursday of each month we will host a card game. Bring your friends to play your favorite game of cards. $6 includes lunch, door prizes, snacks, and everyone will have a good time. Tickets are on sale for this event starting Feb. 1, 2016 at the center.

Tax Services

The AARP will be doing taxes at the center every Monday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please call and make your appointment at 724-872-4976. Property Rebate forms can be completed and will be done at Filbert Manor at a later date.

 Everyday Activities

 Cards, puzzles, WII bowling, ping pong, trivia, crafts, pool, nutrition and socialization. Lunch is at noon every day. Food is ordered a week ahead of time so please make your reservation by Tuesday.
