Seniors

Several partner agencies of United Way’s ‘Open Your Heart to a Senior’ initiative need volunteer drivers:

Volunteers in all Allegheny County communities are needed to transport seniors to medical appointments or shopping in the volunteer’s own vehicle.

For more information about these and other needs, or to register as a volunteer with OYHS, please call the United Way helpline at 2-1-1 or email openyourheart@uwac.org.

Volunteers are needed countywide to help seniors remain independent and stay safe in their homes. United Way’s ‘Open Your Heart to a Senior’ initiative now has several nonprofit partners in Allegheny County to provide volunteer services to seniors. Volunteers can deliver meals, take seniors to appointments or the grocery store, help at senior centers and much more. Please register to attend an upcoming information session (dates below): call the United Way helpline at 2-1-1 or email openyourheart@uwac.org or visit www.oyhs.org/get involved/events.

An upcoming ‘Open Your Heart to a Senior’ volunteer information and orientation session will be held on October 21 at 6:30 p.m. - Beechview Carnegie Library, 1910 Broadway Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216.
