Monessen High School’s Class of 1960 is getting ready to turn back the hands of time and all MHS Alumni are invited to join the festivities.
“We feel this is a good way to have a true Greyhound Reunion,” said Patty Foster Bukowski of the Class of 1960's Celebration Committee. “Last year’s dance was such a success that we decided to have it again this year.”
The Front Page, which will perform at an Oldies dance sponsored by the Monessen High School Class of 1960 on Saturday, September 15 at the Firemen’s Social Hall, comprises (l-r) Mickey Carr, David “Sarge” Gardner and Clyde Pearsol.

An Oldies Dance will be held Saturday, September 7 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Monessen Firemen’s Social Hall in the Eastgate Plaza area of the city. Foster said MHS classes from the 1950s and 1960s have all been invited to attend but emphasized that any Monessen High graduate is welcome. All other interested persons also are invited.
Special recognition will be extended to the MHS Classes of 1956 and 1961 who are celebrating their 75th and 70th birthdays this year and the Classes of 1958 and 1963 who are observing their 55th and 50th graduation reunions. Tables for each MHS class in attendance will be designated so the graduates can sit together.
"The Front Page", a popular western Pennsylvania vocal group specializing in the oldies and doo-wop harmonies of the Fifties and early Sixties will provide live entertainment and a disc jockey will play music between the group’s shows.
Admission for the BYOE (Bring Your Own Everything) event is $15 per person and the Class of 1960 will provide mixers, pop, water, ice, potato chips, pretzels and other snacks.
Tickets can be obtained from the individual class reunion representatives or members of the Class of 1960 committee. Call 724-684-7081 or 724-518-4592 for additional information.
Other committee members are Carl Borriello, Rono Chromulak, Tom Hawkins, Judy DiBuono Paglia and Christine Mykovich Zerambo.
“We’re sure there will be a lot of reminiscing come September 7,” Foster said. “In addition to enjoying the live entertainment and the Oldies music between the band’s sets those in attendance will have the opportunity to relive the days of those great record hops at the Italian Hall and the Stockdale Fire Hall as well as dances at the Sons of Italy and the Vets Club in Charleroi and those unforgettable lunchtime tea dances at the high school. It will be a wonderful journey down Memory Lane.”
