Students at Thomas Jefferson High School currently enrolled in Spanish III are writing a children’s story in Spanish as the culmination of their unit on using the two past tenses in the Spanish language.

They do this project every year; however, this year there is a special twist.
One of the Spanish III students, senior Lucia Bonacchi, will be traveling to Chimbote, Perú in July for a two-week missionary trip to support the Diocese of Pittsburgh’s Chimbote Foundation. As part of her trip, Lucia will visit a maternity hospital and orphanage for abandoned children. The class decided that it would be a great idea for Lucia to take these books with her on her trip and donate them to the orphanage.
Students in Spanish III completed their books using Chromebook laptops, art supplies, and specially-ordered, blank story books. Ms. Bonacchi will take all 23 story books created from the three Spanish III classes at the high school and deliver them to the orphanage in July.
