Y-Readers Zoo Trip

Y-Readers is a 6-week summer literacy program that allows students entering 1st and 2nd grade the opportunity to participate in morning literacy instruction , which focuses on spelling, grammar, vocabulary, self-selected reading, and small group guided reading.

In the afternoon students participate in enrichment activities, including arts and crafts, music, nutrition education, character development, field trips, and more. Y-Readers also stresses family involvement asking parents and guardians to attended orientation meetings, read nightly to and with students, and participation in family workshops and other events. The Y-Reader program ended July 25.
