Clairton's Chapter of the Nation Honor Society and Varsity Cheerleaders will be kicking off an Orro recycling fundraiser for the month of September. Money raised will go to supplies and for charitable events. Orro will work with the Clairton Honor Society to collect used consumer electronics. Old cell phones, laptop computers, tablets, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, Blu-Ray's, DVD’s, video games, MP3 players, flat screen monitors. Whether they work or not.

Once the items are collected, Orro takes them down to a facility on the South Side where they are reprocessed, in order to find the best second life, and possibly keep them in circulation in the marketplace. They work with a network of secondary buyers, recyclers, and scrap specialists in order to maximize the value of the items we collect, and in turn, maximize the return that Clairton will receive through these donations.
To prevent any identity theft, Orro works hand-in-hand with professionally certified specialists who will erase any and all personal data from the items you provide, to ensure that your private date does NOT find its way into the wrong hands.
Once the items are reprocessed, to ensure the maximum return possible, Orro then will return a portion of the generated income back to the Clairton Honor Society and Cheerleaders in a matter of weeks. So please bring us your stuff! Search your cabinets, your shelves, your drawers ... every nook and cranny of your home. Grab the stuff that you just don’t need any more. You may donate at Clairton High School's Main Office, Clairton City Hall, or by calling Alexis Trubiani at 412-290-4423 or at 412-233-920 ext. 1263.
After School Teaching and Learning
Clairton's After-School Teaching and Learning Experience (CASTLE) will begin again in September. Students in grades 5-8 will once again have the opportunity to work with the Carnegie Library, Carnegie Museum, Sense of Place Learning, Hear Me 101, and many more partners during the 2013-2014 school year. For more information or to enroll, please call Greg Spotti at 412-233-9200 x. 1103.
