251 Seniors Receive Their Diplomas in Joe Montana Stadium

The 251 members of the 2013 Ringgold High School graduating class received their diplomas at the commencement ceremony on Wednesday evening June 5.

The ceremony took place in Joe Montana Stadium which was packed with relatives and friends of the graduating seniors. The stands and the school parking lot were both full. Overflow parking along the highway leading to the school driveway was packed as well.

The entrance procession, to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the Ringgold High School Band, was led by Superintendent Dr. Karen Polkabla and Assistant to the Superintendant Mr. Jeff Matty , followed by members of the administration, teachers, the school board members and special guests. They were followed by Assistant Principals Mr. Jason M. Marvin and Mr. Jason Minitti leading the graduating seniors.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Seniors Shayla Crews, Nick Esper, Jacob Henson, Allan Howard, Rose Jasko, Sam Kainz, Lance Lawrence, Brian Rands, Will Stewart and Michael Wollett. The National Anthem was sung by Samantha Middlemiss. The Ringgold Alma Mater was sung by Erin McDonald and Rebecca Sedlak.

Dr. Karen Polkabla gave the welcoming address. She was followed at the podium by Assistant Principal Mr. Jason M. Marvin who introduced Mr. Ulice Payne Jr., President of Addison-Clinton, LLC and a 1973 Ringgold graduate who gave an inspiring keynote address.

The thoughts of the graduating class were well-expressed by Chris Spahr (President of the Senior Class), and Co-Valedictorians Harley Bobnar and Kelly Donovan. Student speakers Leanne Fries and Rose Jasko (Vice President of the Senior Class) added their thoughts as well.

The class was presented to the School Board by Assistant Principal Jason minnitti. School Board President Mrs. Mariann Bulko announced the “acceptance of this senior class of 2013 as being qualified and accepted for graduation and offered congratulations on behalf of the entire Ringgold School Board for their accomplishments.” This was followed by the presentation of diplomas. Congratulations from the “Messengers” to all graduating seniors.
