The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a Homeschool Outdoor Classroom at Mingo Creek County Park on Thursday, March 14 at the park office. Two sessions are available: Session I will begin at 10 a.m. and Session II will begin at 1 p.m.
Students and their families will be introduced to geocaching as they search for a pot-o-gold hidden in the park. Rainbows won’t be needed, as we will use a handheld global positioning device (GPS) to outwit the leprechaun and be the first to find his treasure! We will have a limited number of GPS units to utilize, but if you have a handheld device in which you can enter latitude and longitude coordinates, let us know upon registration and bring it with you.
Please note that this program is designed for homeschooled children ages 5 to 11. Pre-registration is required and can be made by calling the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation office at 724-228-6867. There is a $1 fee for this program. Please dress accordingly for the weather, as we will be venturing outside!
Mingo Creek Park is located 12 miles east of Washington off of Route 136.
