School News


Saint Katherine Drexel students place high in the Junior Acadamy of Science (PJAS)competitions.

Eighth grader Caitlyn Kirsch
Eighth grader Caitlyn Kirsch will go on to Penn State with her first place win. Seventh and eighth graders are given the opportunity each year to participate in PJAS, and six students chose to take part in the regional competition held at Baldwin High School on February 2. Gabi Hirsh, 7th grade, Devin Gilfoyle, 8th grade, and Emily Figliolia, 8th grade, received second place. Allison Richard, 7th grade, and Mary Kutschke, 8th grade, also received first place wins along with Caitlyn. These three girls will proceed to the state competition at Penn State this spring.

In other news:

Fourth grade science classes had an Adaptation Fashion Show, where students dressed in animal costumes and gave a briefing on their chosen animal's adaptations. They then presented the show to other grades.

Students at St. Katherine Drexel School show their pride with Catholic Schools Week scarves.
Students conducted a hat/sock/gloves drive for the Salvation Army during the month of January. On February 4, they presented a large box of these items for adults and children to Major Paul Moore. They also gave him a cash donation from those families who chose to send in money.
