The West Jefferson Hills School District is creating an Alumni Association to support the storied history of its alumni and the success of future generations of WJHSD students in the growing district community.
The West Jefferson Hills School District dates to 1812 and in the mid-1900’s transitioned from the Jefferson School District, incorporating residents and students from West Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills and Pleasant Hills. The high-achieving and innovative school community is the fastest-growing in Allegheny County, with student enrollment increasing 12.2% from 2017-18 to 2022-23 to more than 3,300. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Thomas Jefferson High School No. 15 out of 132 Allegheny County high schools the past three years.
Whether it is a trade, a two or four-year college or university, a technical school, the military or a career immediately upon graduation from Thomas Jefferson HS, membership in the WJHSD Alumni Association will continue to support the future of the district community and Western Pennsylvania.
Membership in the WJHSD Alumni Association, which may be tax-deductible, will contribute to:
- Scholarships to support district academic programming
- Networking events for past and future alumni
- Information on TJHS Class Reunions
- Mentoring current students and providing internship opportunities
- Creation and expansion of TJ alumni achievement displays and digital presentations
- Recognition opportunities for inaugural class of Alumni Association members
Membership is open to all graduates of Thomas Jefferson HS as well as friends who want to support the successes of the district’s future generations within the West Jefferson Hills community as they embark on their professional journeys.
WJHSD Alumni Association membership is $25 for a two-year term or $200 to become a lifetime member. Applications are available at: bit.ly/3L4K6Slor the WJHSD Administration Building, 830 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, weekdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Checks should be made payable to WJHSD.
The creation of the Alumni Association is part of the district’s initiative to further engage with district students, under the direction of Superintendent Dr. Janet Sardon, who is a Thomas Jefferson HS graduate. Last March, the district celebrated some of its most successful alumni in academics, the arts and athletics at the inaugural Hall of Fame induction dinner. Nominations for the 2024 WJHSD Hall of Fame class are being accepted until November 15, 2023 and the application is available at the Alumni Association/Hall of Fame link on the Information tab on www.wjhsd.netor at the WJHSD Administration Building.
