Dr. Gary Cartwright, a local orthodontist, recently awarded four $500 scholarships to four high school seniors; two girls and two boys.

Every year Dr. Cartwright conducts an essay contest for all of his past and present patients who are furthering their education. The topic was “What would you like to study after high school and why?” Winners this year are:
• Auriana Carrington of Venetia, PA - Daughter of the late Mark Carrington and Daneen Carrington, she will be attending Slippery Rock University to study Dance and Business.
• Ashley Ficorilli of Eighty Four, PA - Daughter of Michael and Carole Ficorilli, she will be attending Mercyhurst University to study Sport’s Medicine/Pre-Physician Assistant.
• Dillon O’Donoghue of Canonsburg, PA - Son of Timothy and Theresa O’Donoghue, he will be attending Baldwin Wallace University to study International Studies: National Security.
• Zachary Shoemaker of Pittsburgh, PA - Son of Todd and Denise Shoemaker, he will be attending Slippery Rock University to study Psychology.
