The Rotary Club of Monongahela recognized Ringgold High School seniors Anthony Pampena and Olivia Warner as the Students of the Month for January and Maria Lengwin and Dan Martinelli as the Students of the Month for February. Students are selected based upon excellence in any one or more of the following areas: academic, athletics, arts, or community service.

| Maria Lengwin |
Maria Lengwin of Eighty Four is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Lengwin. She serves as the National Honor Society President, Senior Class Secretary and Foreign Language Club Vice President. Maria is also active in Interact, Science Olympiad and Relay for Life. A member of the Track Team, she has run cross country for six years. Her favorite high school memory was winning consecutive cross country section championships as a Junior and Senior. Serving as a coach for a girls’ basketball team at her church is one of her favorite community service activities. Maria has won several cooking competitions at school, and she will be participating in a cooking contest in Disney World this spring. After high school Maria plans to attend college to study chemical engineering.

| Dan Martinelli |
Dan Martinelli of Monongahela is the son of Mark and Lori Martinelli. He is active in basketball, golf, and weight lifting and volunteers for Relay for Life at the Monongahela Valley Hospital. Dan prides himself on his patience and ability to work with others. He is most grateful for the bond that he shares with his best friends. Dan volunteers at the Monongahela High Rise, where he socializes with the residents and tries to give them a positive outlook on life. After high school, Dan plans to attend Geneva College to major in chemical engineering. He also has plans to attend graduate school to become a doctor.

| Anthony Pampena |
Anthony Pampena is the son of Angelo and Sharon Pampena of Eighty Four. In school he has participated in baseball and basketball. His favorite high school memory was honoring his basketball coach, Coach Pergola, for his 600th career win. Anthony has also been active in the National Honor Society, Relay for Life and Students in Action. The community service activity that he has enjoyed most is a Appalachian Mission trip through his church, which he has attended for three years. He describes himself as a positive, happy person who always approaches problems in a positive way. After high school, Anthony plans to attend college to major in computer engineering.

| Olivia Warner |
Olivia Warner of Eighty Four is the daughter of Ken and Jan Warner. She has been playing tennis competitively since the age of 10 and has accepted a scholarship to play tennis at Slippery Rock University. Her favorite high school memories were participating in the past three musicals. She has also participated in the Medallion Ball in Pittsburgh, after completing the required 150 hours of community service. Her favorite community service activity was teaching young children how to play tennis. At Slippery Rock, she will study computer science.
Chartered in 1921, the Rotary Club of Monongahela welcomes prospective members and guests to attend one of its weekly meetings which are held on Thursdays at noon at the Hill’s Restaurant in Monongahela. The Club performs numerous community service projects, and is currently selling $5 chances to win four tickets to a Pittsburgh Penguins game. The proceeds of this fundraiser will be used to purchase 100 children’s’ books for the Monongahela Library, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation.
