The Sinners Only Men's Breakfast Club, sponsored by the Pricedale Union Church, located at 203 Johnson Ave. in Belle Vernon, had its kickoff session for the 2014-15 season with a patriotic presentation from a group of the Mid-Mon Valley Shipmates.
The Shipmates, led by their executive officer, Barry Anders, discussed the proper way to respect and care for our flag. Their presentation included the history and evolution of the flag, the flag code, ways in which the flag is often disrespected, proper respect for the flag, and the meaning behind the way the flag is folded.
The men of this group come from a variety of Christian faiths including various Protestant sects, and several Catholic and Orthodox churches. They were fed a tasty breakfast prepared by our in-house chef, John Mimidis.
This month, on Saturday, October 25, the breakfast program will feature George Kyle, aka "Brother Jeep," a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, who will minister through his personal testimony and song. Jeep is a 30-year retired sergeant from the Cal U Police Force. He graduated from Cal State and the PA State Police Academy. Years ago, he shared his testimony on Channel 40's "Getting Together" with Russ Bixler. Now you are invited to come and hear Jeep's exciting testimony of how he came to know the Lord and how he acquired the nickname.
The breakfast is open to Christian men of all faiths. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. with Jeep's testimony and songs to follow. There is no charge for the meal, but a love offering will be taken to defray costs. If you have any questions concerning the breakfast programs, which meet on the last Saturday of each month with the exception of December, you can contact the church office at 724-929-9588 or Ralph Stone, the program coordinator, at 724-483-2132.
