With the Lenten Season fast approaching, committees at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora are in the midst of planning an even bigger and better event this year. Committees have been expanded and additional help has been added.
Ron Pergola, chairperson, said 1,000 pounds of the "monster" fish has been ordered for the first week of sales which will include Ash Wednesday and Friday.
Fish sandwiches, including coleslaw, will be available along with baked or fried fish dinners. The full meals will include the monster fish, choice of French fries, halushki or perogi, and also green beans, coleslaw, dessert and beverage.
The main courses are prepared as ordered so as to keep everything fresh. In addition to the fish dinners, there will be shrimp available and for the first time, crab dinners also. In anticipation of this year's project, the social hall has been painted, new window blinds installed and food preparation equipment upgraded. Rest rooms are also renovated.
With more help added to the take-out section, full meals or sandwiches may be ordered. Delivery will be available for five or more orders. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sales will continue through Good Friday. The church is located at the corner of 2nd St. Ext. and Manor Rd.
