Religion

St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Sixth Street, Monongahela will begin the holy season of Great Lent on Sunday evening, March 2 with the celebration of Forgiveness Vespers at 6:00PM.  Before seeking a closer relationship with the Lord we come to seek forgiveness from each other as the Lord said:  "If you forgive men their trespasses, you heavenly Father will also forgive you."  (Matthew 6:14) 

On Monday, March 3, the Great Canon of Repentance will be prayed at 7:00PM at the sister church of St. Nicholas in Jacobs Creek.  Each Wednesday of Great Lent, the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts will be celebrated at 5:30PM.  Each Friday of Lent there will be the Akathist to the Divine Passion of our Lord at 6:30PM followed by Bible Study at 7:00PM.  The topic for the Bible Study is "Handling Stress" and including the topics:  stress from worry, stress from work, stress from failure, stress from conflict, stress from loss, stress from overload.
