St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Sixth Street, Monongahela will begin Sunday school classes for students in kindergarten through high school on Sunday, September 17.
Adult Bible Study will begin on Friday, September 22 at 7 p.m. and continues for 6 weeks. The topic of study for the fall session will be the Epistles of St. Paul to the Thessalonians. The Bible Study will be led by the parish pastor, Rev. Dr. Edward Pehanich.
The Great Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos will be celebrated with Great Vespers on Wednesday, September 20 and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom on Thursday, September 21.
The Great Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross will be celebrated with Great Vespers on Tuesday, September 26 and the Divine Liturgy on Wednesday, September 27. This day is a solemn day of prayer and fasting for Orthodox Christians in which they especially remember the saving death of the Lord on the Holy Cross.
The parish will hold a rummage sale / flea market on Saturday, October 7.
Boxed lunches for the poor and needy of Pittsburgh will be prepared on Saturday October 21 beginning at 9 a.m. The lunches will be delivered to the FOCUS Center (Federation of Orthodox Christians United to Serve) on Centre Avenue in the Hill District.
