A Monongahela resident addressed the council to voice his complaint about a house which is in Carroll Township, but is recognized by the post office as being on E Main Street, Monongahela.
The resident voiced his opinion that, “the house should be torn down, because it’s an eyesore.” Another grievance was the lack of a stop sign at that end of town – coming down the hill onto East Main Street.
Chief of Police Brian Tempest after speaking with the owner of the house said, “This is a Carroll Township issue - among other things.” Council will also address the stop sign issue.

Mayor Kepics announced that it’s his honor to make William Fusco a full–time police office. He’s been a part-time police officer with Monongahela for the past 4 ½ years. The vote to promote Fusco was 3-1. Fusco is now a resident of Greensburg. He is originally from Clairton. Congratulations are in order.
In other business: Council authorized 3 thank-you letters to Joseph Price, resident agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in Pittsburgh; U.S. Attorney David Hickton, in Pittsburgh; and Akeia Conner, Special Agent for the IRS in Philadelphia. The letters are in regard to their efforts in the successful prosecution of Daniel Young for drug violations. A portion of Young's assets siezed by the government was turned over to the City of Monongahela. The financial benefits will be put to good use, and the city is especially grateful.
Councilwoman Claudia Williams reported that “the Aquatorium Concerts are moving along nicely.” She has been hard at work organizing and promoting the events. Councilman Kenneth Kulak commended her for her efforts.
Kulak also said to look for the “Rivertown” event on Sept. 7 to be posted. It will include a canoe and kayak paddling trip from Charleroi to Monongahela. Boat paddlers will start in Charleroi on the 7th. All are welcome to come out and watch. There is a capacity limit for entrants in the trip. Kulak also mentioned that, “The Monongahela River was voted ‘River of the Year’ which should make us all proud.”
