At the regular Rostraver Commissioners meeting on May 1, President Andy Temoshenka conducted a public hearing on the subject of the Agricultural Security Area Proposal. The proposal was approved along with a resolution after a reading by Solicitor Gaudio.

Business with Charleroi Federal Savings Bank was to be continued at a Rostraver work session on May 15. Questions about whether the bank is in default of their Development Agreement and a resolution declaring them so was prepared.

Finance Director Sheffield was approved to attend a seminar regarding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care act. The seminar will educate local government officials on the upcoming changes in health care and their implementation. Commissioners named Kristen Svrcek, who is a representative of CSC Insurance to look into group dental coverage offered through United Concordia.

In other business:
• A matter with the IRS which was started back in 2009 was resolved with the payment of $1,000 and the signing of a closing agreement.
• Lone Pine Construction of Bentleyville was hired to repair the Pricedale bridge with a budget of $5,900..00
• The police chief was approved to buy a 2013 Dodge Charger Police RWD, minus the cost of trade-in for a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria. The vehicle will be purchased through the SHACOG Purchasing Alliance.
• Timothy N. Farkus was hired as a part-time police officer effective April 30.
• All bills were ratified for payment and the secretary ratified for advertising financial statements.
