The disappointment over last year’s total rain-out of the 2012 Finleyville Community Day Celebration may have had a negative impact on the committee planning for 2013.

At any rate, according to a conversation I had with Mayor Kutsek, there will be no Finleyville Day celebration in 2013. Planning is concentrating on “Finleyville Day 2014” and the date is likely to be in late June or early July (less chance of a total rain-out).
You’ve probably noticed that there’s building construction underway between the hardware store and the Mulkern Building on Washington Ave. Mr. Mulkern evidently received a building permit to construct another business warehouse on Washington Avenue.
In other Business:
• Garbage is no longer being picked up on Marion Avenue Extension. According to the Mayor, the Borough and Waste Management reached a joint agreement since Marion Avenue Extension is unsuitable for large truck traffic.
• The lot that was to have contained a bus shelter on Washington Avenue was sold. An alternate location for the bus shelter needs to be identified.
• The mayor mentioned that the next Tri-County Borough Association Meeting will be in May.
• Two utility poles that were sheared off due to accidents still have shattered stubs remaining creating a safety hazard. Mayor Kutsek will contact Verizon once again asking for their removal.
• PennDOT has begun a project to replace the one lane Rankintown Bridge to the West of Finleyville. It’s could be 2-3 years before actual construction begins.
• The Mayor expressed thanks to Peters Creek Sanitary Authority for storing Finleyville’s Christmas lights in their basement. He also thanked Huntington Bank for storing the lights for many previous years.
• According to the Mayor, new memorabilia has been added to the Finleyville History room in the back room of the Municipal Building.
