Mon City Police Chief Brian Tempest spoke of David McClelland who has been making the news, having been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of an elderly neighbor. “I noticed a change in his behavior half-way through his 3-year period," Chief Tempest said. "He was directly out of the police academy… a military veteran, very clean-cut—everything was completed. Mike Lucas was an assistant D.A. (and Lucas tried the case.) I hired him (David), and I also terminated him, three months before the crime was actually committed.”

Mayor Bob Kepics announced that he would like to acknowledge the fine job of the fire department. He expressed the appreciation of the city and the council to the Monongahela Volunteer Fire Department who responded to a recent fire at the Pitt-Mon Auto Salvage. A certificate of appreciation was presented by City Clerk Carole Foglia to the Monongahela Volunteer Fire Department from the city for outstanding service and contributions for protecting the safety and welfare of the citizens of Monongahela by preventing a potential disaster at the fire which occurred on Fri., April 5, 2013.
