“We hope to see some growth in the community as we tear down properties and have new businesses come in,” said New Eagle Mayor Glen Petticord. Indeed, it has been a battle to get the Ramsey property on Rt. 88 torn down.
But after a three year fight, it finally happened on February 15 and is now nothing but a pile of rubble. The Borough hopes that other nuisance properties will soon follow.

New Eagle Borough was complimented by residents and the mayor on its efficient and prompt snow removal during the month of February. Borough workers had 12 hour shifts and used 4 truckloads of salt.

Also at the February 5th meeting was Jamie Harshman of HMT and Associates Engineering. Harshman was on hand to give some direction to the Borough on what it needs to do for a storm water permit. He also addressed issues related to code enforcement. As for building permits, Harshman clarified that HMT does not police, and that a building permits turnaround time can be as fast as the same day. New Eagle Borough also hired HMT associate Fred White as the Uniform Construction Code Official.

In other news:
• New Eagle Fire Chief Paul Pro was reappointed for 2013. Mayor Petticord also clarified that he never said he wasn’t going to run for Mayoral office again at the end of this term.
• A motion was approved to exonerate the tax collector of $17684.92 of uncollected 2012 real estate taxes.
• 89 delinquent mortgage citations were issued.
• Minutes were approved and also a motion to pay bills as usual.
