During the Donora Council Meeting on February 14th, the discussion turned to losses of both PNC and Citizen’s Bank. Donora Mayor John Lignelli exclaimed, “We will have something in this town. Trust me, we will have something.”

Councilman Thomas Kostolansky said that when the Mayor and Council met with PNC officials, the bankers showed no interest in hearing the pitch to stay in town.
In other business, there are opportunities available:
• A position on the Civic Center Authority Board has been vacated. Any resident of the Borough of Donora interested in filling the vacancy must submit a letter of intent to the Donora Council to be considered for the board seat. Letters of intent will be received without deadline until further notice.
• Council President Dr. Karen Polkabla said the Borough’s seat on the Mon Valley Sewage Authority Board has been vacated. Any taxpayer who is a resident of the Borough or has a business in the Borough can submit a letter of intent, including qualifications, to Council by March 6 at 4:30 p.m.
Additionally, those interested in raising flowers or vegetables on their own plot in a community garden, or experienced gardeners willing to serve as resource persons in a community garden project, are to let the Donora Public Library know by visiting the Library or by e-mailing them at dh.donoralibrary@gmail.com.
