The South Park Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting at 8 p.m. on September 11, following their 9/11 ceremony.

 The 9/11 ceremony was held at Sunny Slopes in South Park and Supervisor Ed Snee was the lead speaker. The supervisors said that this year was their best turnout yet and the township manager added that it was a “great success.”

The Board later discussed the following topics at their meeting:

  • The property at 1472 Berryman Ave. will be revisited in three months, to decide if it is a public nuisance.
  • Several non-exclusive license agreements were approved for residents to build over sanitary sewer and utility easements.
  • On Monday, November 13, 2017 at 6:45 p.m., the Board will hold an informational meeting concerning what the Township has been doing with MS4 and what it is.
  • Two agreements by and between the Township of South Park and SHACOGG, which define the terms and conditions for the projects identified as the Highland Avenue Storm Sewer Project and Grant Street Storm Inlet Rehabilitation Project, were discussed.
  • The public hearing for the transit-oriented overlay development that was to be held on September 11, has been rescheduled for Monday, November 13 at 6:15 p.m.

Additionally, a number of the Township’s officers will be attending the “Defensive Tactics” training in Mt. Lebanon, starting on Oct. 23 –through 26. The total cost for all officers in attendance is $36.

The Township approved the payment request in the amount of $15,040 as submitted by Layne Inliner for the work completed to date on the project identified as the 2017 Township-Wide Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation.

The demolition proposal submitted by Schaaf Excavating Contractors Inc., for the purpose of their demolition services, was approved. The property on Sebolt Rd. and the two properties on Grove Rd. will all be razed, since all have been declared public nuisances.

The following developments for MS4 have been accomplished:

  • Four storm inlets have been repaired.
  • Approximately, 1,100 inlets have been identified and approximately 900 have been evaluated.
  • Litter along the roadside is a contributor that inhibits the function of catch basins and the Township has an employee that continues to collect the litter.
