The West Elizabeth town council has been informed that the current mayor, Ralph Harrington, will be unable to complete his mayoral term due to health concerns. Residents have submitted letters of interest and a new mayor will be chosen on December 7, 2016.

Additionally, there have been several changes made to the West Elizabeth town council in 2016. These include the additional of an additional member, Jenna Gilbert, a new council president, Lew Miller, and a new vice president, Lisa Morris.

The council now holds additional meetings throughout the month to keep the lines of communication open between members. Those meetings are closed to the public. Council meetings for the public are still held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
