The South Park Township’s Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting on November 14 at 7 p.m. to discuss the following:
A request for a refund of Letter of Credit No. 5297775 in the amount of $25,000, which posted to guarantee the completion of the sediment basin conversion for the subdivision identified as South Park Trails, was approved.
The Township granted preliminary and final approval for South Park’s Eagle Stadium and Recreation Complex to undergo renovations. Prior to any construction activities, there must be a fully executed developer’s agreement, along with the appropriate bonds and escrow fees.
Action on Ordinance No. 679, which deals with amending how oil and gas activities should be performed, was tabled.
Snow removal agreements were approved for several subdivisions throughout the area of South Park, but have not yet been accepted.
The Board approved the bids received by the South Hills Area Council of Governments (SHACOG) to purchase fall commodities. SHACOG received bids for the community development project identified as Cardox Road Storm Water Improvements and R&B Contracting & Excavation Inc. has been awarded the contract by South Park Township in the amount of $49,230 with grant funding in the amount of $22,000. The balance of the project’s cost will be paid by South Park Township.
In regards to hiring, part-time library page Chloe Teagardner has resigned and Lindsey Sholtis has now been hired as the new library page. The Township additionally has hired Cindy Klein to be the new basketball monitor for the 2016-2017 season.
A public hearing has been scheduled for December 12 at 6:30 p.m. regarding an inter-municipal transfer of a restaurant liquor license.
A rental contract was approved by and between Mr. John and the Township of South Park for portable toilets to be placed throughout the Township’s parks and recreation areas.
An ordinance is being prepared to determine if weight limitations are needed on High Street. The action on this ordinance will be determined at a later date.
The premium was submitted by Provident Insurance Co. in the amount of $12,398.80 which provides insurance coverage for both the Library Fire Company and Broughton Volunteer Fire Dept.
South Park’s recreation director, as well as two of the Recreation Board members, will be attending the Recreation Park Society Conference, scheduled for March 24-29, 2017, which will be held in Hershey, PA.
Additionally, this month’s MS4 report (concerning storm water management) consisted of the following:
1. Township officials met to discuss a storm water management ordinance submitted by Allegheny County. The ordinance explains how to manage storm water during major and minor construction projects.
2. Outfall water testing during dry weather has been completed.
3. Public works is cleaning leaves out of catch basins.
4. A part-time employee continues to collect litter.
5. The mapping of storm water catch basins will conclude by the end of this year and in 2017, the sanitary manholes will be mapped. All information will be played in a GIS format when completed.
