The Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation (MARC) held its 10th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Monday, September 19, 2015 at the Monongahela City Fire Hall in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.

The guest panelists were the two candidates for the 49th Legislative District Seat in the Pennsylvania Legislature; Alan Benyak, the Democrat hopeful and Bud Cook, his Republican opponent. Anthony M. Lombardi, President and CEO emeritus of Mon-Vale Health Resources, Inc. and Monongahela Valley Hospital, Inc. served as the night’s moderator.
George I. Eckert, Master of Ceremonies, welcomed the gathering and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance before introducing MARC’s President, Kathleen Desantis. Ms. Desantis presented the Honorable Peter Daley with a Certificate of Appreciation for his tenure in office which brought over three billion dollars in programs to the now 49th District.
After Mr. Lombardi took the stage, he introduced the two candidates. Each gave a quick summation of their view and plans for the 49th District. Mr. Lombardi then acknowledged individuals in the crowd who asked questions of the panel.
Some topics discussed were: the completion of the Mon-Valley Expressway (43) and the enormous debt of the PA Turnpike Commission; absentee landlords and their blighted properties; getting the Commonwealth budget passed on time; bringing manufacturing back to the Mon-Valley; promoting the area and its waterways; and Marcellus Shale gas opportunities.

The communities of West Pike Run, Monongahela, Carroll Township, Charleroi, Washington Township, Greensburg, Marianna, New Eagle, Belle Vernon, and Daisytown were represented in the audience of 68.
