John and Margaret (Berus) Eckenrode of Canonsburg marked their 60th wedding anniversary on December 27, 2012 with a family celebration.

John and Margaret were married December 27, 1952 at St. Mary’s Church in Conneaut, Ohio. They are the parents of John (Pam) Eckenrode of Ocean View, DE, Debbie (Richard) Lawson of Finleyville, Bob (Linda) Eckenrode of Mt. Lebanon, Tom Eckenrode of Canonsburg, Mary (Mark) Mikec of McMurray, Charles (Claudia) Eckenrode of Canonsburg, Cindy (Charles) Evanoski of Wexford, Janet (Gary) Wall of Eighty Four, Judy (Rob) Asbell of Venetia, Susan (Dave) Rendulic of Mt. Lebanon, Brian (Kelly) Eckenrode of Gibsonia, and Ken (Kelly ) Eckenrode of Cranberry and the grandparents of 52 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
John served on active duty during the Korean War as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Penn Mutual Life Insurance of 45 years and works for Knights of Columbus. John has placed two bronze medals and participated in the 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011 National Senior Olympics for Cycling. He enjoys volunteering in his community.
Margaret worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital for 10 years and Canonsburg Hospital for 7 years. She enjoys cycling and has placed two silver and six gold medals with the National Senior Olympics in 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011. She loves spending time with her grandchildren and volunteering in her community.
