The ceremony was attended by several local dignitaries who presented awards and congratulations to Matthew. The Elks presented award certificates, a personal US flag, and an Elks scouting pin to Matthew in recognition of his achievement.

Every potential Eagle Scout must complete a special community service project as the last hurdle in attaining his Eagle rank. Matthew’s project consisted of renovating the athletic field entrance area and bleacher seating area of Our Lady of Grace Church in Scott Township.

Matthew is the third son of the Bridgeville Smith family to earn this highest scout ranking. This is the second Bridgeville Troop #2 family to have three Eagle Scout sons.
