Local People

At the most recent meeting of the Charthene Club, Youth and Education Chairperson Mareen Lindsay announced the Girls of the Month to be honored this fall.

The Girl of the Month for September is Vanessa LaBryer. LaBryer is a senior highest honor roll student at Charleroi Area High School. She is involved in many clubs at school, plays in the marching band, plays softball, and is employed by McDonalds.

The Girl of the Month for October is Mackenzie Skobel. Skobel is a senior at Charleroi Area High School and is involved in several clubs, served on Student Council, plays many sports, and is a volunteer at Camp Intention.

The Girl of the Month for November is Jessica Day. Jessica is a senior highest honor roll student as Charleroi Area High School. She has been inducted into NHS, is a member of SADD, and is on the executive committee and in the history club. She runs on the varsity track team and is the captain of the varsity soccer team. She has served as a community volunteer for the Charleroi Education Foundation, Camp Intention, Joe Perrotta Pinto Tournament, and is involved in many other activities. She plans to study nursing at Robert Morris University.

Johanna Fagan has been selected as the December Girl of the Month. Johanna is a senior highest honor roll student at Charleroi Area High School. She serves as president of Student Council and the executive committee. She is a member of the Drafting Club, Cougar Crazies, STEM Club, Camp Invention, and Charleroi Clean-up Day. She is employed at King’s Family Restaurant. She plans to attend West Virginia University or Penn State to pursue a career in engineering.
