Clairton Library announces November events.
Bake Sale - The Friends of Clairton Library are sponsoring a Fall Bake Sale. Goodies will be on sale at the library on Friday, November 9th from 9 until 3 p.m. Also on sale will be dinner rolls, loaves of regular bread and seasonal treats. Proceeds provide special events and materials or equipment to benefit the library and the citizens of Clairton.
Literary Feast - The FOL are also collecting recipes to make a community library cookbook. Please write down your favorite recipes for any kind of food… Include the first and last name of the contributor and the title of the dish. Bring or send them to FOL at the above address.
Book Clubs - Clairton Library hosts two book clubs for adults. One is on the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m., and the other is on every 3rd Monday at 9 a.m. Anyone interested in joining may request a copy of the current book from the librarians at the main desk or just drop in at book club time.
Wise Walk - We walk, rain or shine, on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Walk at your own pace and for the distance that’s comfortable for you, but meet us this Saturday at the library. Bottled water and healthy snacks are provided.
Cuddle Time - Every Tuesday from 11 until 11:30 a.m. children from birth to two years of age can enjoy learning the rhythm and cadence of storybook language. Every child needs to be accompanied by an (adult) lap to cuddle on.
Stories for Tots - On Wednesday mornings, toddlers ages 2 and up are invited to story time plus an educational group activity. Bring your child at 10 a.m. for more important and fun experiences with book learning.
Kids after School - Older children are invited to the library every other Monday from 3:30 – 4 p.m. for adult-lead, reading activities along with the kids from Sisters’ Place. Inquire at the main desk for details (412-233-7966).
Game Day - Every third Saturday the library schedules a children’s game day. Many board games are provided, and all school-aged students are welcome to participate. Come at noon and play until 2 p.m.
Join the Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library (FOL) are volunteers who plan events and fund raisers to enhance the programs and facilities of Clairton Library. We would love to have our FOL group expand with adults who want to help the library and the community. Having more Friends means having more ideas for projects as well as the skills and “hands” to get them done. Please consider joining the FOL. Our next meeting will be at the library on Thursday, November 12th at 11 a.m.
