Whitehall Public Library Announces the following August Events.
Viewing Pleasure: The Film Group - Monday August 10 @ 1 p.m.
Join the group that squeezes all of life into a 60” screen! Each month we'll highlight two classic films and follow with an optional discussion of all things cinema. Now is your chance to watch all of those films you never had a chance to see on the silver screen the first time around! *Refreshments provided.* No registration required.
Super Hero Olympics - Monday August 10 @ 6:30 p.m.
Celebrate the end of Summer Reading with an Olympic challenge! We will have a superhero obstacle course, emblem relay race, superhero dash, Kryptonite toss and much, much more! Bring your summer reading library bucks to redeem your prize. All superheroes and villains will enjoy an ice cream treat. FREE – registration is required.
Arctic August: Kennywood Memories - Wednesday, August 26 @ 6:45 p.m.
Join us for a two-part evening that is sure to give you the summer shivers! We first welcome author David Hahner, Jr. who will lead a picture presentation about Kennywood and its many rides and attractions throughout the last century. Afterward, we’ll have our own Sundae Social chock-full of flavors, toppings, and good conversation. Tickets: $3 per person / For ages 16 and over. Register at the library front desk. *Admission includes five raffle tickets for prizes!*
An Afternoon with Clayton: A Bus Trip to Frick Museum - Saturday, August 22
We will take a guided tour of Clayton, the family home of industrialist Henry Clay Frick, followed by a special lunch at the Museum Café. Guests will also be able to tour the grounds, the family’s greenhouse, and the museum itself with the family’s many treasures of Renaissance art. Space is very limited! Cost: $45 per person. Payment and lunch selection is due at time of registration at the library front desk. Bus departs library lot at 9:30 a.m.
