Children ages 8 through 12 are welcome to join in on the K’nex Club. Participants will use K’nex to engineer moving toys. The club will meet at the library on Wednesdays, July 12 and 26 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Children are not to be left unattended in the library; therefore a parent or guardian must be present during the meeting period. Legos will also be available.
Our Children’s Summer Reading Club will meet Tuesdays, June 11, 18 and 25 from 11 a.m. to noon. This year’s theme is “Build a Better World.” Pre-registration and parental signature is required at the library.
The Carnegie Science Center presents “Build It” from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13. Engineering, experimentation, and force interaction create sculptures, build arches, and assemble other unique structures. The program is for children 5-14, and pre-registration is required at the library due to limited space.
The Carnegie Science Center presents “Ready, Set, Roll” from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19. This program tackles the "E" in STEAM, as you build your own ramp, then test how far your ball can roll. This one is great for the little engineers in your life, ages 3-6. Pre-registration at the library is required due to limited space.
On Monday, July 24 from 1-2 p.m., Mad Science of Pittsburgh presents "Building with Simple Machines." Simple machines help us do our work as we build a better world. Use of levers, inclined planes, wedges, pulleys, and wheels can lighten your load. This program is for children aged 5-14, and pre-registration is required at the library due to limited space.
