Library News

Pleasant Hills Public Library announces the following October Events.

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Tuesdays, through November 29 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Explore different themes through stories, songs, crafts, and a snack. For children ages 3 ½ to 6 years old, with or without a caregiver. No registration necessary.

BABY BOOK NOOK: Wednesdays, through November 30 at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Nursery and action rhymes, songs, books, and so much more. For children ages birth to 2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.

 TOT TIME: Thursdays, through December 1 at 10:30 a.m. Learn and grow with stories, songs, finger plays, fun activities, and a snack. For children ages 2 to 3 ½ years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.

 PJ FAMILY STORY TIME – TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR: Monday, October 3 at 7 p.m. Join us for stories about starry skies, lullabies, a relaxing craft, and a delicious snack. Wear your PJs and bring a stuffed friend to join in the fun. Family Program. Please register.

 READ FOR THE FUN OF IT – TEEN MAKE-N-TAKES: Monday – Saturday, October 10 – 15. Celebrate Teen Read Week with a different make-n-take every day in the teen department. For teens in grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

 TAIL WAGGING TUTORS: Monday, October 10 at 7 p.m. The dogs are back at the library. Trained therapy dogs will be here hoping to hear a story or two. Practice your reading skills while enjoying the company of some furry friends. For children ages 4 and up — reading ability encouraged but not required. Please register.

TEEN GAMES ‘N’ AT: Thursday, October 13 at 3:30 p.m. Ever played Fluxx? How about Zombie Dice? Come learn how to play a variety of enjoyable board and card games. And just for fun, we’ll set up the Wii too. Plus, there will be snacks. For teens in grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

SPOOKY STEM: Monday, October 17 at 4 p.m. Can you make a catapult that will launch candy corn high into the air? How about a structure using only toothpicks and candy pumpkins? Test your science, technology, engineering, and mathematical skills with fun and spooky challenges. For children in Kindergarten – 5 grade. Please register.

 ANIME CLUB: Thursday, October 20 at 3:30 p.m. New time for the school year. Do you enjoy anime and manga? Come talk with fellow fans, watch some anime, try some Japanese snacks, and learn about new and interesting titles. For teens in grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

FAMILY HALLOWEEN SPOOKACTULAR PARTY: Monday, October 24 at 6:30 p.m. Wear your costume for a truly spookactular evening at the library. We’ll start with not-so-scary stories then open up sinister crafts, mysterious games, and offer up some frighteningly yummy snacks. We’ll also parade around the library stopping here and there for tricks or treats. At the end, prizes will be awarded for best costume in different age categories. A $2 donation per child is requested and will be collected at the event. Family program. Please register.

 LEGO EXTRAVAGANZA CLUB: Wednesday, October 26 at 4 p.m. Calling all Lego fans, come build with us on the last Wednesday of every month. We’ll have Legos you can use but feel free to bring your own. For children ages 3 and up. Please register.
