Jefferson Hills Library recently announced the following July Events.
Summer Reading Program Schedule
Our exciting program includes themes about sports, healthy eating, and having FUN! Special programs include Carnegie Museum of Natural History, T.J. High School Athletes, Allegheny County Parks, T.J. Arts, Home Depot Gardening, Animal Rescue League, Miss Allegheny County Pennsylvania Collegiate 2016, and more. STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – programs will be included on various dates.
Summer Reading Club At The Library
Preschool –Kindergarten Students (Ages 3-6) Tuesdays 10 - 11 a.m. Includes story time, snack, and craft. Please register. This program begins at 1 p.m. and is open to all children.
July 5 - Mother Goose Olympics
July 12 - Meet the “Tail Waggin' Tutors”
July 19 - Visit with author, Karen Howell, Alex and The Iguana (in red tennis shoes)
July 26 - Animal Rescue League featuring a surprise nocturnal guest
Elementary Students (Ages 6 and up) Thursdays 10 – 11:15 a.m. Includes story time, snack, and craft. Please register.
July 7- Allegheny County Parks Program – Skins & Skulls
July 14 - T.J. Arts Program “Mike Why, a one-man band without the band” at CCAC. NOTE: Transportation and supervision must be provided by individual parents/caregivers. 9:30 a.m. - noon.
July 21 - Dinosaur Program – Carnegie Museum of Natural History
July 26 - Animal Rescue League Program (1– 2 p.m.) This is a Tuesday program
July 28 - Intergenerational Program – Healthy Food Demo by Atria Senior Living
Tweens And Teens (5th - 12th Grade) Tuesday 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Crafts and refreshments provided. Please register.
July 5 - Pizza on Pita – Unleash your culinary skills and create a healthy lunch
July 12 - Olympic Game Day
July 19- Compost Cookies Anyone? Iron Chef Competition.
July 26 - Party Time! (10:30 – 12 p.m.)
Reading At Home and Tracking Your Minutes
Preschool and Elementary Students
Students will receive an “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” reading tracker when they register at the library. Each student who logs in 300 minutes can select a book from the library’s book selection. They will also be eligible for special prizes. Turn trackers in by August 19 to be eligible for a special prize. Each week, children who are in preschool through 5th grade will receive a small prize when they show their reading tracker.
Tweens And Teens
Tweens and Teens can log their minutes on their reading tracker. Teens should turn in their trackers by August 19 to be eligible for prizes.
All Library Patrons - Every time a child, tween/teen, or adult comes to the library and checks out a book, they will receive a raffle ticket to win one of our special prizes.
