Annual Plant Sale
Giant Oaks Garden Club will sponsor its annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 18 at the Peters Township Public Library, Peters Township, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., rain or shine. The sale, now in its 13th year, features a large variety of quality potted perennial plants selected from members' gardens. Also featured are herbs, annuals, hanging baskets and raffle baskets of gardening items. GOGC members, many of whom are Master Gardeners, also provide assistance and answer individual gardening questions from the public. For more information, call Mary Stuart, co-chair, at 724-941-3081.
Exceptional Horticulturists Awards
The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania has announced the Honor Roll of Exceptional Horticulturists Awards. The Awardees are Patty Koval of Finleyville, Christine Nicholson of McMurray, Linda Schwartz of Venetia, and Ginny Whitaker of Castle Shannon who are all members of GCFP District X Giant Oaks Garden Club.
Upcoming meetings and programs:
May 2 - Indoor Gardening - Mary Joy Haywood, Ph.D., will share her talents with a demonstration on the best type of plants to grow in your home plus how to encourage these plants best results. Her focus will include pruning, proper light, fertilizer, soil type and watering.
June 6 - Container Arranging Including Workshop - Jan Simmons, owner of Simmons Farm in Peters Township, will conduct a step-by-step presentation of container arranging. There will be a “hands-on” workshop later at Simmons Farm.
