Obstetrician and gynecologist Andrew L. Spergel, M.D., an experienced physician at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Monongahela, has joined the medical staff at Jefferson Hospital, where he will provide obstetrical care at its new state-of-the-art Women and Infants Center. He delivered Jefferson's first New Year's Day baby on Jan. 1.

Dr. Spergel's medical practice, Valley Women's Health, has been based at Monongahela Valley Hospital for more than 15 years and he will continue to practice there as well. Two other partners in his group, Walter R. Cox, M.D., and Paul N. Cervone, M.D., are also in the process of establishing staff privileges for gynecologic care at Jefferson Hospital.
Dr. Spergel previously provided obstetrical/gynecologic services at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh and at Centerville Clinics, Inc., in Fredericktown, PA.
