“How to Know if You Need a Joint Replacement/Revision” - Monday, July 1 at 6 p.m., ECC. Ari Pressman, M.D., will present a free program to discuss signs and symptoms indicating the need for joint replacement or revision. Smoking Cessation Program - Tuesdays, July 2, 9, 16, and 23 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Primary Care Resource Center (PCRC), Hospital, fourth floor. Classes are offered at no charge to PCRC patients, MVH employees and anyone with a referral from an MVH-affiliated primary care physician. For all others, the cost for the complete program is $20. Bone Density Screening - Wednesday, July 3 from 1 - 3 p.m., Healthy Directions at the Finleyville Giant Eagle. Do you have brittle bones? Have you ever had a bone density test? Childbirth Preparation Class - Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 7 – 9 p.m., Mon-Vale HealthPLEX. A four-week series of prenatal education classes designed to prepare couples for the birthing process. Topics include: signs of labor, vaginal and caesarian deliveries, the role of a labor coach, comfort measures including breathing and relaxation skills and pain medication options. Managing Your Diabetes - Tuesday, July 9 – Thursday, July 11 from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., Mon-Vale HealthPLEX. This session builds on the education received in the “Managing Your Diabetes” program. AARP 55 Alive Refresher Driving Course - Monday, July 15 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., ECC. This is the nation's first and largest classroom driver improvement course specially designed for motorists age 50 and older. It is intended to help improve skills while teaching accident and traffic violation avoidance. Some insurance companies offer discounts for course completion. All information is conveyed in a classroom setting in one half-day session. The cost is $12 per person for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Pre-registration is required, call 724-258-1333.

MVH has teamed up with Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC to provide this free information session designed to give those individuals struggling with weight loss the facts to choose their best option. Advanced Carbohydrate Counting - Wednesday, July 17 from 9 – 11 a.m., ECC. This is a diabetes self-management class that focuses on counting carbohydrate intake.
