Health

Would you like to be tobacco free in 2013? The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that nearly 70% of smokers say they want to completely stop smoking, but only 6% of smokers successfully quit within the past year. Those who do quit greatly reduce their risk for disease and premature death.

The experts from Monongahela Valley Hospital’s new Primary Care Resource Center (PCRC), in cooperation with the practice of K. Gosai, M.D. and A.J. Gandhi, M.D., will offer a series of four smoking cessation classes Tuesday, February 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 6 - 8 p.m. The classes will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, Bentleyville, PA.

The classes are offered at no charge to PCRC patients, MVH employees and anyone with a referral from a Monongahela Valley Hospital-affiliated primary care physician, such as Drs. Gosai and Gandhi. For all others, the fee is $20 for the complete program.

Each of the four group sessions will be led by an expert who understands the complex physical and emotional aspects of quitting and can provide smokers with the tools to quit forever. Space is limited and registration is required by calling 724-483-6300.
